...since sliced bread!

Most of you may know this... But I just figured it out today, so bare with me! I bought a new flat iron before we left for Oklahoma, because my hairdresser friend was apalled that my flat iron was about 10 years old. So anyways, I had heard somewhere that you could use them to curl hair, so I looked it up and found a tutorial on it. I am amazed! Lyv's hair held it so well! Carly's hair was done with the flat iron too! no bobby pins! This is definaltely my new favorite thing to do with their hair, NO curling iron!

I'm sorry this photo is crooked, I couldn't get it right, but it shows how I did her hair so well.

Pretty girls!! Guess how I'm doing their hair for church tomorrow!!
If I'm late, you'll all know why! Carly's was fast, but Lyv's takes a while :)

Wonder Woman here to defend you!

Ok, I know I have a ton of photos to post, but they can just wait, because I am feeling like a cool mom right now and I don't know how long that will last! Olyvia got an invitation to a "Super Hero" party for a friend of hers and all the kids are supposed to dress as their favorite Super Hero. Now, I know I have a boy, and we own Transformers, but that is the extent of anything Super Hero-ish in our house. So I got the invitation late Mon nite and we had a busy day Tues so come wednesday I decide to put thought into this (party being today!), I googled some Wonder Woman photos and headed to Walmart to get some fabric to see what I could throw together. I got there and had forgotten the photos and had 3 cranky kids so I grabbed some sparkly stuff, some red, white & blue fabric & a boys red tank top that was sz 8... I went to bed at 3 am and did a couple last minute things I did this morning. Are you ready?

I did eye-liner, mascara, some blush and of course red lipstick, she couldn't hardly hold still for the lipstick, that was her favorite part, I don't even wear lipstick!

This was so much fun I almost feel guilty!

These are flip flops she's had forever, I just washed them and glued some sequins!
Because it wouldn't be Lyv without flip-flops!!

My beautiful girl! Love you Lyv!!

On our way...

On Sunday we were getting ready for church and Lyv comes running in saying that Kai was in my purse, so I go check on him and he had gotten ahold of my pink, and favorite, pen! He was pretty proud of himself until dad showed up!

It faded a enough in the bath to get him to church!

After church we went to my moms to have Carly's family party, she was funny opening presents, she would empty the bag or rip off the paper and move on to the next even before she knew what it was, it took about 2 minutes to go through everything! I think she just wanted cake!

So did Kai...

This is everyone at the party! Thanks all for coming! Carly is all partied out!

Tuesday Lyv had her "Barefoot gymnastics Summer Games", they let all the parents come into the gym and watch the things that the kids had learned. Lyv had a great time showing off her skills! This is Shaday, they have become such good friends, their birthdays are close and they have been in the same class for a year, they are so cute!

Here she is doing her back-bend,

After they did a little obstacle course, they went over to the long trampoline, where they jump over things, then jump to the end and are supposed to do a somersault down the ramp. Lyv gathers speed and height as she goes and does a flip instead! "Go Lyv!!!"

You can see the tramp in the background, they jump over these little animals on the balance beam, and Lyv nailed it!

After they show off what they can do, they did a little ceremony for the girls, they do a big"salute" with their medal on.

Here are the girls in Lyv's class, Faith, Lyv & Shaday

In advance the parents had the option to order a t-shirt for the kids too. Well, each year the kids get a free t-shirt when they pay their yearly dues, so Lyv got one last week, so I didn't order her one, but the other girls parents did, you can see how well that went... In the picture above, you can see her contemplating this fact.

So, what did mom do? I bought her a t-shirt like the other girls have, was she happy? sort of... Has she worn the shirt every minute of every day since because she loved it so much? No, she has yet to put it on. :) I am a sucker!

And finally, we are getting ready to leave, I told Lyv that I was packing and she needed to decide what to bring for entertainment, so she disappeared for about 10 minutes and came out looking like this, "I'm ready mom!" Love the shoes, babe!

We are leaving tomorrow and will be gone for 9 days, we are going to the Oklahoma Zoo and then relaxing at the lake with my grandparents, we are also running up to Tulsa for a day to visit my dad's parents, we can't wait!!
See you on the other side!

Busy week

This week has been going by so fast! We had Carly's birthday party on Monday, on Tuesdays we usually take Lyv to gymnastics, but monday was so crazy for them, I decided to ditch it and let them sleep in. I'm so glad I did because the girls slept until 9 and Kai slept until 10! They all are usually up by 7 or 8. We just cleaned house tuesday but wednesday we went in to gymnastics and met my mom at Wendy's for lunch (that's what carly wanted). After I got home I got a call from Summer saying that we could go pick plums to make jam with, so I figured I would just go to lyv's T-ball game at 5, have my mom meet me there, and bring the kids home and I would take her truck and go pick plums, well, about 3:30 Lyv got really sick to her stomach and wasn't is any shape to play soccer. Which stunk because she was also doing team photos after her game, she slept through her game, and eventually felt better, so I headed out with the truck to pick up Summer and Jill. We went and picked a 2-gallon bucket full of little cherry plums, thinking we wouldn't end up with a ton of jam. After we got home I needed to get some groceries, so Summer and I went to Wal-Mart to get sugar and pectin for the jam.

Thursday Summer, Jill and Alicia came over, Summer & Jill started the Jam and Alicia did my hair! I've been wanting something crazy, and I do believe I have accomplished that!

Before....

AFTER!

So fun! We made jam using my cool steam juicer I got for Christmas (I think), that thing is awesome!! This is how much we got out of two batches, but we still had 1/2 the bucket left to go!

After naps we got around and went to Lyv's last T-ball game, it was the last game of the season, and Joey got to come for the first time! Joey's mom and sister were able to come also, Kai was being silly and wouldn't talk in front of them! He was sure hamming it up though!

After the game all the kids got medals for playing this season, and we got to all go eat dinner for free at the concession stands, which was a microwaved corndog or a hamburger, chips and some cake, but hey, who passes up free food?!?

After the game, Mom and I went to St. George to get more jars from my mother-in-laws, return a movie and go shopping for groceries for Carlys party Saturday, we got home way later than we wanted, but we had fun!!

This morning Alicia came back and trimmed the girls hair and Summer showed up and we finished all the jam, today was so perfect! It is about 85 degrees, but it's overcast and beautiful, the kids were outside all morning. Here is the jam we did today, not including the ones in the photo above. I love canning, it's so fun! Free food, again, Score!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CARLY!!!

Today is Carly's birthday!! She's the big 3!! I can't believe she's getting so big! She is such a beautiful little girl!

We had a 'friend' party Monday night for family night With the Johnsons, the Johnsons, and the Johnsons (really) and is was a tad windy! actually it was INSANE windy! But my friends wouldn't let me give up! Thanks Brandi & Kendra! We BBQed Hawaiian chicken and pineapple kabobs, and I made Yummy 3 potato salad (thanks Linda!) and fruit pizza, and everyone brought salads.

We tried to have table clothes but the wind turned them into launch pads sending the kids plates flying and the tears rushing! We tried rocks to hold them down, but just ditched them in the end!

After we ate, the kids had a water fight with the water balloons we brought. The only rule was "don't throw them at the adults", Golden must not be an adult! Because he was public enemy number one!

Go Cole!!

We made little buckets for Carly and her friends to take home for her birthday, they thought they were pretty cool! You would not believe how hard it is to get two 3-year-olds and two 2-year-olds to sit still for 3 seconds! (Or maybe you would!) Kailin, Lacie, Adelyn and Carly! (they're all sporting that "wind-blown" look!)
I think kids like cake!!!

I wonder where Carly's frosting went??

Carly had so much fun and so did the rest of us! Thank all you Johnsons for coming and braving the wind! We love you guys!!

P.S. In our family birthdays last about a week, the girls anyway :) more pics to come of the 'Family' party on Saturday!
After we got home the rain came! The girls had a blast running out in it with the umbrella, Carly is just so cute!!!

now I'm done.... really.
